Are you interested in establishing pollinator habitat on your farm in 2024 or 2025 to enhance biodiversity while also providing an enjoyable family project with perhaps your children, grand children or community? You can do so by enrolling in Operation Pollinator as it expands in PEI this summer.
The initiative from Syngenta Canada is focused on research and partnerships to promote the health and well-being of bees and other pollinating insects, given their essential role in agriculture and nature. Farms provide great potential to create essential habitat and food sources for a range of native bees and pollinating insects.
Since the inauguration of Operation Pollinator in 2021, more than 20-farms have planted fifty-three acres of pollinator-friendly seed mixes. Syngenta is now partnering with our organization in collaboration with PEI Department of Agriculture and Cavendish Agri-Services, to offer the program to farms again in 2024 and 2025.
Program provides participants with Operation Pollinator seeds for up to 2-acres; and $ 200 per acre towards planting costs. Details of the pollinator mix can be found in the Operation Pollinator brochure at the link below.
In case there are additional funding opportunities, please indicate all PIDs and acreage of pollinators you would be interested in establishing.
Please complete the Enrollment Form found at the link below. All submissions will be considered for habitat suitability on a first-come basis. Intake will close when funding has been fully allocated.
Sincerely John Hooper President PEISCIA
